The Lima Lima flight team presents one of the longest running formation acts in the USA in their T34 military trainers. They will be doing a 3 ship formation act at Wings over Winston 2019, and you don’t want to miss it. Two T34’s will be joined by Jimmy Burke in his Yak 52 for the act; Jimmy, of course, always does a great job with his solo act in the Yak. Let’s give a big Winston County welcome to the Lima Lima Team!
The Chance Vought F4U Corsair is one of the most beautiful, and deadly warbirds ever built. This WWII era aircraft with its inverted gull wings is a sight to behold. The Corsair was nicknamed “Whistling Death” because of the distinctive noise it makes as it all but goes supersonic in a high speed dive. You’ll get to hear it live and in person at Wings over Winston 2019 as Frank Kimmel of Greenwood, MS, brings this iconic aircraft to our show. Frank will give us a full aerobatic act in the Corsair; you don’t want to miss this one!
Jimmy Burke is an authentic American hero; he flew 325 missions over VietNam in single seat supersonic F100. During his military career Jimmy earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, 15 Air Medals and the Purple Heart. After a distinguished career as an airline captain, Jimmy now keeps his aviation skills sharp flying a Russian Yak 52 which will be one of the prettiest aircraft in the show this year. Don’t miss him on October 5th at the Louisville-Winston County Airport!
